On 8 September 1855 at Sebastopol, Crimea,
Captain Davis commanded the spiking party in the
attack on the Redan with great coolness and
gallantry. Afterwards he saved the life of a
lieutenant of the 39th Regiment by jumping over the
parapet of a sap and going some distance across
the open, under murderous fire, to help carry the
wounded man to cover. He also carried several
other wounded soldiers to safety.
Remarks
Later achieved rank of Major General.

Johanna Susanna Alensoon werd op 16 oktober 1698 gedoopt in de Hooglandse Kerk te Leiden. Zij is de dochter van
Caspar Alensoon en Johanna du Pr‚, woonachtig op de Oude Rijn, tegenover het Amsterdamsche Veer. Uit dit huwelijk
werden acht kinderen geboren waarvan Susanna de jongste was. Zij trouwde met Jan Fredericq Gronovius. Susanna Alensoon
overleed op 14 december 1774.
